Ali and Justin started Jaffelato in February 2018. We are locals who LOVE our home town, raising our 3 kids in this paradise. We are a small family business and that family grows every time we welcome new customers to the fold.
We operate our business under three basic principles:
For us, operating a business in a Community means being part of the fabric of it, valuing the things our people care about. We support local charities. We have offered our shop as the drop off point for the CWA for their charitable activities for foster children, kids at Christmas and Mother’s Day. We offer a free coffee for everyone that donates. We thanked the women in our lives on Mothers Day with free coffees. We have a pay it forward system and have several people going through a hard time use it through the generosity of our community. On Xmas Day we open our doors for free food for those in need. We sponsor a Rockingham Flames player. We offer our walls for local artists to display and sell their artworks.
Being Family-Friendly is driven by Ali’s experience with her triplets when they were little and the stigma it attracted when she went anywhere with them. We have aimed to create a safe and welcoming place for mums and dads with babies and toddlers. Our menu is budget conscious and has something to suit the fussiest of little tums…plus nothing is fried! Just good old fashioned sandwiches and milkshakes made with love.
Remember going to your local coffee shop and they knew your name, coffee order, your kids and where you were going on your next holiday? That’s the Connection that we strive to keep in this modern world. We care about our Jaffelato family and we love being a small part of their lives. We adore our staff and love seeing our young crew grow as we give them responsibility and a sense of pride in their work. We employ people with disabilities and find the experience just as enriching for us as it is for them, everyone has a superpower just waiting to be discovered.
What is a Jaffelato anyway?
Jaffelato is a combination of our three menu heroes – Jaffles, Coffee and Gelato. Check out our menu below.
Well, Ali’s experience of bringing triplets into the world means she has a great appreciation for food that you can eat with one hand, and jaffles fit the bill. They also hold great childhood memories for us, and we wanted to bring back memories for others.
When we were establishing Jaffelato the most common piece of advice we received is you must have good coffee (and tea). We investigated several Perth coffee roasters before we settled on Leftfield Coffee Roasters. Easily the best decision we made. Roasted locally in Perth it is delivered fresh every week. We use their Old Fox blend and it has been totally on point. We also use Leftfield tea brand Ruby Chai. Leftfield’s real Chai Tea (not powdered) is stunning and it has built a loyal following.
